Dear Friends,

Jesus shouted in the midst of religious craziness in the temple of Jerusalem, “My Father’s House will be a house of prayer for all the nations.” The three key words are priority: House, Prayer, and Nations. Let's explore those terms.

House: Paul states in 1 Corinthians 6:19, “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?”

Prayer: Communication with God – talking and listening. Jesus taught in Mathew 6:6, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” And in Matthew 5:44: “But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

Nations: Ethnic groups. 2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

How are we doing as the “Father’s House?” Perhaps if the house is right, everything else will be right.
I am not attempting to pile guilt upon you. We all have enough of Satan’s guilt. How about a little bit of Jesus’ conviction? Guilt de-motivates while conviction inspires and motivates!

This week, we rejoice with the angels over the four who made decisions for Jesus. There was great worship of our God with 1,977 in attendance. I want to especially thank all of you who are making changes in your schedules and choosing to attend church other than during the crowded 9:30 and 11 a.m. services. You are helping others find Jesus!

Here are some key events for you to keep in prayer and/or get involved with:

1. Wednesday night services start back up next Wednesday, August 20.
2. The launching of new Life Groups.
3. Thursday Bible study begins again on August 21 — 10 a.m. for women and 6:30 p.m. for men and women.
4. Sale of our current property.
5. The Ninos de Mexico Golf Tournament

missions update

Below is a letter from Cam, pictured at left with his wife. Cam is a missionary in Southeast Asia who Tomoka Christian supports through Voice of the Martyrs.

Dear Tomoka Christian Church Family,
I am 50 years old. My wife and I have six children; the oldest is serving God, two children are in high school, and one is in junior high school. The youngest is not in school yet. Every week I teach basic doctrine and I expand the work of God. I am in charge of two districts and the distance that I travel is 50 km. I shepherd five churches and two cell groups. I take care of about 200 people. Please pray for me. I am trying to breed some livestock to support my family better as I am serving the Lord. May the Lord bless you. Halleluiah!

On another note, Stan & Carol Ponz, our missionaries in Hawaii, recently wrote:

"There are idols in our culture but the true God has the power to deliver us from bondage to them. We must stand boldly against prevailing cultural beliefs, no matter how popular or politically correct they are, when they exalt other gods and enslave people in superstition and fear. We must walk by faith and courage and be willing to defy false gods and goddesses so others may see that no god can stand before the Lord, who alone is God."

We are thankful for the steadfast, unmovable faith of the Ponzes and of Cam and his wife. Please continue to lift them up in prayer.

The month of August is focused on getting Bibles and other spiritual materials into the nations we are praying for. This week please pray for Cuba, Brunei, India, Algeria, Nigeria (North), Ojibouti, Turkey, Kuwait, and Sri Lanka.
